Suriya Sriphrom was born and raised in Phuket, an island in the south of Thailand. He earned his BA and Ph.D. in Linguistics at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He is interested in syntax, semantics, second language acquisition and language teaching. His dissertation was on the influence of grammatical aspect and situation type on the use of English tense forms by Thai learners. He worked as an English instructor at several private language schools in Bangkok for almost ten years. Before moving to Bloomington, he taught Thai for foreigners for eight years at the Intensive Thai Program, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
