IU Welcomes Nurlaeli Hidayanti (Leli) as the new Indonesian language instructor!

We are happy to welcome our new Indonesian language instructor for the 2021/22 Academic Year!!!

Here is some info about Nurlaeli Hidayanti (Leli) – our FLTA from Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Nurlaeli Hidayanti (Leli) graduated with a bachelor's degree in English Language Education from UIN Alauddin Makassar, Sulawesi, Indonesia in 2008. She received her master’s degree in English Language Studies from Universitas Hasanuddin in 2015.

In Indonesia, she works as an English instructor in the Foreign Language Intensification Program at UIN Alauddin Makassar. She has been teaching English since 2010. As an FLTA, she is now teaching Bahasa Indonesia for the elementary and intermediate levels at Indiana University, Bloomington.

She is very excited about sharing Indonesian languages, cultures, and histories, and she expects to gain more experience and knowledge about the system of education and cultures in the United States.

The Fulbright FLTA Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). As part of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, the Fulbright FLTA Program is designed to develop Americans' knowledge of foreign cultures and languages by supporting teaching assistantships in over 30 languages at hundreds of U.S. institutions of higher education. The program offers educators from over 50 countries the opportunity to develop their professional skills and gain first-hand knowledge of the U.S., its culture and its people.
